Stephen Spivey

I officially joined Stepping Stones Early Learning Academy (SSELA) full-time just two weeks ago, but my connection to the school runs much deeper. My journey with Stepping Stones began back in 2022 when I had the opportunity to film a documentary for the organization—giving me a behind-the-scenes look at the heart, dedication, and impact that define this community.

In many ways, my story with SSELA started even earlier. Over 23 years ago, I was a student in Mrs. Tammie’s 4-year-old preschool class, experiencing firsthand the same nurturing environment we strive to provide for children today. Growing up alongside lifelong connections—including my friendship with Nick—has made being part of this team feel like coming home.

My path into this role has been shaped by both personal history and professional perspective, and I’m grateful for the unique journey that led me here. What began as an outside perspective quickly turned into a deeper appreciation for the mission and the people who make it possible.

Now, stepping into this role full-time, I’m committed to supporting the continued growth and success of Stepping Stones while honoring the legacy that impacted me so personally. Every day, I’m reminded of the lasting influence early childhood education can have—not just on students, but on entire families and communities.
