Stepping Stones at Roane

Third Location | Faith-Based Preschool | Serving Infants to VPK

Our Destin campus, acquired in September 2023, is the newest and most expansive addition to the Stepping Stones Early Learning Academy family. With a licensed capacity of 200 children and 13 thoughtfully designed classrooms, this state-of-the-art facility allows us to extend our mission of faith-based early childhood education to families on the south side of Choctawhatchee Bay.

This location carries a legacy of excellence, having operated for over 20 years as the Roane School, founded by Hampton Roane and Tracy Roane of Atlanta, Georgia. Their gracious decision to entrust Stepping Stones with this beloved campus has allowed us to continue serving the Destin community with the same heart and commitment that defined the Roane School for decades.

The Destin campus offers a full range of programs—from our nurturing Infant Room to our dynamic Butterfly VPK Program—all grounded in Christian values and developmental best practices. Children benefit from a rich learning environment that includes:

  • A spacious indoor play area for movement and exploration

  • Over five outdoor play spaces designed for active learning and gross motor development

  • A covered outdoor classroom that blends nature with education

  • A dedicated water play space for sensory enrichment and seasonal fun

With its exceptional facilities and deeply rooted history, the Destin campus is a shining example of how Stepping Stones continues to grow—guided by faith, rooted in community, and committed to excellence.

Miss Erin has dedicated nearly 30 years to working with young children, a passion that has always been at the heart of her life. Throughout her career, she has found great joy in helping children learn, grow, and develop confidence as they discover the world around them. For Erin, early childhood education is far more than a profession. It is a calling that allows her to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families every day.

In addition to her love for education, Erin has a deep passion for animal welfare and has volunteered with Walton County Animal Services for the past 10 years. Whether caring for children or animals, she believes every life deserves to feel safe, valued, loved, and supported. Her compassionate nature, dedication to service, and commitment to nurturing others make her an invaluable part of the Stepping Stones Early Learning Academy family.
